Poiema Arts is thrilled to announce auditions for the award-winning hit Broadway musical, Disney’s NEWSIES — and we’re looking for actors, singers, and dancers on a mission to join the cast!

Auditions: Thursday, May 22 & Friday, May 23 | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Drop in at your convenience.
Show Dates: August 14–24

Who Can Audition?

Males and females ages 15 to adult

Boys ages 10–15 may audition for the role of Les

We’re casting both guys and girls as newsies in the ensemble!
Come Ready to Dance!
There will be a dance audition portion, so please wear or bring clothes you can move in.
What to Prepare:

A 30-second monologue (related to the show’s characters—no direct dialogue from Newsies)

A 1-minute a cappella vocal selection
Before You Audition:
You must complete a PoiemArtistry application.
If you’ve already participated in a PoiemArtistry production and submitted an application, you do not need to apply again.
🔽 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Do I need to be a vocal soloist to join the ensemble?

No. Basic ability to sing in harmonies with a group is sufficient.

Do I have to know how to tap dance?

Not at all. Not all cast members will dance, and not all dancers will tap.

If I’m a current Poiema company member, do I need to reapply?

Nope! You’re good to go.

Can girls audition to be newsies?

Yes! Girls are absolutely welcome to audition for newsie roles.

When are rehearsals?

Rehearsals begin Monday, May 26 at the North Raleigh Conference Center and will run throughout the week. In mid-July, we’ll transition to our performance venue in Wakefield.
